Kai Cenat was in shock after Magician Max performed a dangerous stunt on his stream, putting himself in harm’s way and possibly getting Kai’s Twitch account banned or worse.
As Kai approaches the end of his month-long subathon, titled ‘Mafiathon 2,’ he has already broken several records, including nearing 600,000 subscribers—a milestone few thought was possible.
But things got wild on Wednesday, November 27, when Magician Max—aka Max Major, a former collaborator—performed a stunt that put his well-being in jeopardy.
Magician Max’s Stunt Goes Awry
They were then taken to a basketball court where Max was standing atop some scaffolding surrounded by three rope nooses tied into ripcords. He asked Kai to choose which one to pull.
After a test run, only two cords remained. Max then put one rope around his neck and allowed Kai to make the final choice, stating he trusted Kai to “make the right decision.” When Kai pulled the red cord, Max was lifted into the air, leaving onlookers shocked and Kai immediately ordering the crew to stop recording.
Upon returning to his setup, Kai found a note with a URL leading to a video. In the video, Max explained that this was a premeditated stunt and that everything was executed with a lot of precision.

Kai explained that he knew nothing of the stunt, save that Max had promised it would “break the internet.” He said, “Max told my team he was planning something completely different. What happened was not what we discussed.” Kai tried to reach out to Max in hopes of an explanation, but the magician wouldn’t answer his calls and wouldn’t return; he later texted Kai to “let the story be what it is.”
Backlash Against Kai
After the stunt went viral, Kai received backlash from fans and critics alike; some even went so far as to say he had “full control” and therefore must have known what the cords above him were attached to. Others rose to his defense, saying he was misled and shouldn’t be blamed.
Despite this backlash, Kai decided to continue his stream and focus on the positive highlights of Mafiathon 2, which featured major guests like Marlon Wayans and Chris Brown. He still hopes this controversy won’t cast a shadow on the overall success of his subathon.
